Review DECANTER Barolo DOCG Rocche dell'Annunziata 2021

With almost 3.5ha, the Settimo family lays claim to the most vineyards in Rocche dell’Annunziata. The MGA bottling comes from south- to southwest- facing swath mid-slope. Still youthfully austere, the 2021 builds with haunting earthy nuances as it sits.

Further coaxing reveals wild strawberry and piercing mint. Steely tannins are long and linear. These bisect the palate with focused direction, taut fleshy fruit clinging persistently. Crushed granite and iodine reverberate on the finish. Quite a serious mouthful.
