Review DECANTER Barolo DOCG 2021

Tiziana Settimo has been at the helm of this estate since 2007, now joined by her son Davide They make old-school (but clean) wines that are classically structured. Coming from southeast-facing parcels, the straight Barolo is the more gracious of the estate’s two bottlings.

It captivates with evocative scents of wild yellow broom, jasmine and tarragon. Round and rather sumptuous with liquorice-tinged dark raspberry, this conveys the warmth of the vintage. It is hemmed in by grainy, grippy supporting tannins. Such simmering intensity all the way through to the stony mineral finish.
